Transport to Scilly

There are 3 modes of public transport to the Islands. Please use the links below to find out more. Due to our remote location it is highly recommend that you take out full holiday insurance for any contingencies such as delayed departure due to inclement weather etc.

Penzance Helicopters Helicopters fly throughout the year from central Penzance to St Mary’s and Tresco. An amazing 15 minute journey. If arriving by train there is a pick service from just outside the train station to take you on the short journey to the heliport. If driving, there is car parking at the heliport. Further details and to book please visit Penzance Helicopters

Plane and Boat

The Isles of Scilly Skybus (fixed wing small plane) provides air links to St. Mary’s throughout the year. Flights depart from Exeter, Newquay and Land’s End from Easter to November then Newquay and Land’s End only the rest of the year.

The journey takes just 15 minutes from Land’s End. 30 minutes from Newquay or 60 minutes from Exeter. Your flight can take in spectacular panoramic views of the Cornish coastline over Land’s End and provide a dramatic glimpse of the islands on approaching St. Mary’s airport. Upon arrival you will be met by a mini bus taxi which you can jump on to get to reach ‘Appletree’.

alwaysThe Scillonian (boat) takes 2.5 hours to 3 hours from Penzance to Scilly and sails each morning in the main season (only occasional Sundays during school holidays and some bank holidays).  Further details including scheduled flying and boat times and fares can be found on the Isles of Scilly Travel Website.

Advanced booking of your choice of transport is essential.

Upon arrival at St Mary’s airport you can be transported along with your luggage to ‘Appletree, Church Road’ by mini bus taxi which meet each flight or alternatively a taxi can be hired for the short journey.

Upon arrival at St Mary’s quay – if your luggage is labelled with your name and our address: Appletree, 2 Church Road, St Mary’s TR21 0NA – they will automatically be delivered. A small charge is made and can be sorted out during your stay. This will leave you free of luggage to walk directly to Appletree to check in.

Directions to Appletree from the quay: Walk directly to the end of the quay bearing left at the Mermaid pub. Walk through Hugh Town and bear left. Once past Bourdeaux shop take the right folk and walk on this road up and toward the big Church and continue up the hill to nearing the brow – we are on your LEFT (step edges are painted white), a white semi detached house.

Rooms are always ready by 2pm but normally we can have them available from 12:00 on your arrival date, occasionally this may be later.  Please also note that departure is strictly 10:00 hrs on departure day.
